Details
A quiet, well-built Tokoname oval from Reiho, the art name of Kataoka Katsushi of the Seizan Toen kiln. The unglazed clay has a speckled, sandy texture that ages beautifully, framed by a thick rolled rim and a raised band just above the feet.
At 10 by 7 inches and 2 inches deep, it suits a pine, juniper or other conifer, or a broad deciduous like trident maple, where an unglazed pot keeps the focus on the bark. Four bracket feet lift it off the bench, with five drainage holes and the incised signature and square kiln chop on the base. One of a kind.
