4x5x2 Inch Bushuan Rectangle Bonsai Pot #692 – Crackled Glaze, Yellow
Details
A small glazed rectangle from the Bushuan kiln, finished in a yellow crackle glaze that breaks into a fine web across the walls and pools where the drip gathers along the lower edge. The crackle is deliberate: the glaze and the clay beneath it cool at different rates, and the fracture pattern that results is unique to this pot. No two come out of the kiln alike, and this one cannot be reproduced.
At roughly 5 by 4 inches and 2 inches deep, it sits at shohin scale — the right footprint for a small deciduous or flowering tree, where a warm glaze plays against spring blossom or autumn colour in a way an unglazed pot cannot. The shallow depth suits a tree with a modest root mass and an established nebari. Step-cut feet lift the body just enough to read the drip line from the side, so it rewards a display stand at eye level. Chop marked on the base, one of a kind.
