16.5x12.5x4.75 Inch Gyouzan Rectangle Bonsai Pot – Unglazed, Chop Marked

An unglazed rectangle by Gyouzan. Straight, heavy walls rise to a clean flat rim, and the body sits on four squared corner feet cut from the base. The clay is a warm brown with a fine sandy texture and a mellow, mottled surface, with grey-green weathering low on the walls.

At 16.5 by 12.5 inches and 4.75 inches deep, it is a deep, strong container with the soil volume a large tree needs. Five drainage holes and four separate wire tie-down holes make anchoring and watering easy, and the unglazed clay is a natural fit for a pine, juniper or other powerful conifer. The Gyouzan chop is stamped on the base beside the center drainage hole. The interior shows mineral staining from use and a small fold of clay from the making beside one drainage hole.
