3rd Generation Yamaaki Rectangle – Sky-Blue Glaze, Cloud Feet, Nail Signed
Details
Yamaaki (3rd generation) | Tokoname, Japan | Rectangle | Glazed | Nail signed + chop
A classic rectangle from the 3rd generation of the Yamaaki kiln, one of Tokoname's most respected family workshops. The soft sky-blue glaze is finely speckled and breaks to warm brown along the rolled rim and every edge, so the outline of the pot reads cleanly. The walls curve gently inward below a flared lip, giving the shape a graceful, waisted profile.
It stands on four unglazed cloud-scroll feet with crisply carved curls. Turn it over and you'll find the full nail signature, 常滑焼 山秋造 (Tokoname-yaki, made by Yamaaki), beside the Yamaaki chop, plus the original gold-and-green 特撰 (specially selected) label. Two large drainage holes and two wire holes.
📏 Size: TBD
🌳 Pairs well with: a flowering or fruiting tree, a Japanese maple, or any deciduous tree where a soft blue sets off the foliage.
Condition: Sound, no chips or cracks. A few small iron specks in the glaze from the firing.
Lot BD99-023. One of a kind. Also offered in the Bonsai Den 99 Cent auction on Facebook.
