7x5x2 Inch Koyo Octagonal Bonsai Pot #642 – Cinnabar Glaze, Fan Stamp

A Koyo octagon in cinnabar red. The red runs deep and mottled down each facet, then breaks to a pale celadon-white along the rim, the corner ridges and the feet wherever the glaze thinned in the firing. Every edge of the shape is traced in that light line, so the octagon reads crisply from any angle.

At 7 by 5 inches and 2 inches deep, it is a shallow shohin-to-chuhin pot with clean cut corners and four low bracket feet. Two large drainage holes and four wire tie-down holes make anchoring a tree simple, and the interior is left unglazed for good root grip. Strong red wants green against it: a pine, a juniper, or a flowering tree whose white or pink blossom sits well on cinnabar. Fan-shaped chop on the base. One of a kind.
