Details

Wiring goes wrong when the wire fights you — too stiff to place cleanly, or too soft to hold the bend once you let go. This is black anodized, soft-temper aluminum training wire in nine gauges from 1.0mm to 6.0mm, drawn to bend by hand and stay where you put it.

Aluminum is the right choice for most of what's on a bench. It's more forgiving than copper on thin-barked and deciduous material, it applies and removes without specialized technique, and it won't work-harden on you halfway through placing a branch. The general rule is to match your gauge to roughly one-third the diameter of the branch you're wiring — heavy enough to hold, light enough not to bite. Keep the range on hand and you stop guessing.

Features

  • Nine gauges: 1.0, 1.5, 2.0, 2.5, 3.0, 3.5, 4.0, 5.0 and 6.0mm
  • Three roll sizes: 100g (1.0–3.0mm), 500g and 1kg (full 1.0–6.0mm range)
  • Soft-temper aluminum — applies by hand, no tools needed to place
  • Holds its set without work-hardening during application
  • Black anodized finish — blends into bark instead of drawing the eye to the wire

Perfect For

  • Deciduous and thin-barked species where copper is too aggressive
  • Growers new to wiring who want a forgiving material to learn on
  • Shohin and mame work — the 100g rolls in finer gauges
  • Stocking a full gauge range on the bench without overbuying
  • Clubs and workshops supplying multiple growers
