Details
Gyouzan (Nakano Yokizou) | Japan | Unglazed | Rectangle | Flat rim, hand formed, Smooth texture
This is the kind of pot that makes you stop scrolling. A large unglazed rectangle from Gyouzan, hand-formed by first-generation Nakano Yokizou — one of those pieces where the making is right there on the surface if you know how to look. At 19.5" L x 16" W x 6" D, it has real presence: a footprint that can carry substantial material without the pot competing for attention. The flat rim is clean and confident, the texture smooth and tight, and the hand-formed construction gives it a quality that molds simply don't. Unglazed Gyouzan work like this reads beautifully under a well-developed tree — the clay body does the talking, and this one has plenty to say.
Authentication here is nail signature only, no chop, which is consistent with earlier first-gen work and only adds to the provenance interest for collectors who know what that means.
A rare opportunity for a serious collector. Pieces of this size, generation, and pedigree don't move through the market often.
Size: 19.5" × 16" × 6" deep
