Gyouzan Nakano Yokizou 1st Gen Vintage Unglazed Rectangle Bonsai Pot 11"

Gyouzan (Nakano Yokizou) | Japan | Unglazed | Rectangle | Authentic yellow cloth, hand formed, bottom border

This is a hand-formed unglazed rectangle from Nakano Yokizou, first generation — one of the foundational names associated with Gyouzan, a kiln with a strong reputation among serious collectors of Japanese bonsai pottery. At 11" x 9" x 3.5", it's a solid mid-size pot with a footprint that'll carry a decent-sized deciduous or conifer planting with room to breathe.

Being nail signed rather than chop-marked is notable here — nail signatures are the more intimate, direct mark of the artist's hand, and on a first-generation piece they add real provenance weight. What makes this listing particularly clean is that it comes with its original kiribako wooden box and the authentic yellow cloth, which is increasingly hard to find intact with older Gyouzan pieces. If you're building a collection with an eye toward documented provenance, that complete presentation matters. A honest, well-credentialed pot from a respected hand — this one checks out.
