15x13.5x4 Inch Yamaaki Oval Bonsai Pot #35 – Worm Eaten Texture, Unglazed, Double Chop & Nail Signed

An unglazed oval from the Yamaaki kiln in Tokoname, carved with the worm-eaten rim the kiln built its reputation on. The mushikui texture is cut by hand to look as though the clay has been weathering outdoors for decades, and that is the point: a pot that already reads as old lets a young tree look older than it is. The feet are decorative rather than plain blocks, and it carries a double chop alongside a nail signature, a combination seen less often than the chop by itself.

At 15 by 13.5 inches and 4 inches deep, it offers generous root volume for its footprint, which makes it forgiving for a tree still filling out its root system. The unglazed Tokoname clay suits conifers and deciduous material equally, and it will darken and take on patina with watering over the years.
