Ryugaku Free-Form Round Bonsai Pot - 7.5" x 2.5" - Unglazed Rustic, Wavy Rim

Ryugaku | Tokoname, Japan | Unglazed | Free-form round | Rustic reddish-brown clay, wavy folded rim

Hand-built character from Ryugaku (竜岳) - a free-form round with a wavy, folded rim that moves like a breaking wave all the way around the pot. No two points on the rim sit at the same height, and the textured reddish-brown clay is left completely unglazed so the fire and the clay do the talking.

At 7.5 inches across and a shallow 2.5 inches tall, it is made for a literati-style planting, a windswept pine, or a small forest where the tree should look like it is growing out of the terrain itself. The pot stands on three rustic feet, with one large center drainage hole and three wire holes underneath, and the Ryugaku stamp is pressed into the base.

Condition is clean and honest - a working pot with the maker's hand in every fold and finger mark, exactly as it should be on a piece like this.

Pairs well with pine and juniper, literati and windswept styles, and accent plantings where the pot is part of the landscape.

Size: 7.5" diameter x 2.5" tall
One only - when it's gone, it's gone.
