Details
Suzuki Suzan | Japan | Unglazed | Rectangle | bottom border, Flat rim
Suzuki Suzan pieces at this scale don't show up often, and this one delivers. A large unglazed rectangle — 17" L x 13" W x 4.5" D — with flared walls that give it a commanding, slightly assertive presence without feeling heavy. The bottom border adds a clean visual anchor, and the cut feet are confident and well-proportioned, the kind of foot design that earns its place rather than just being there. The flat rim is crisp and ready to do its job. Unglazed Suzan work tends to show beautiful raw clay character, and a pot this size is genuinely suited to carrying a substantial formal upright or a wide, spreading literati — the footprint is there.
Chop signed on the base. Condition consistent with age and proper use in a serious collection. This is the kind of pot that becomes the anchor of a display, not a gap-filler.
